Translating to Life Knowledge, Ayurveda is a sister science to Yoga. Actually the older sister to Yoga. Think of Ayurveda as a holistic healing science. Through nutrition and routine, it gives us opportunity to practice Yoga off the mat every single day. Ayurveda strives for balance is each of us using physical, mental, emotional and spiritual practices.
Space, Air, Fire, Water, Earth. Space is light and clear, Air is mobile and dry, Fire is hot and represents transformation, Water is fluid and soft, Earth is stable and dense. Each element carries numerous qualities; these are only a few. These five elements live in every single being in the world, including ourselves. Every one of us possesses our very own makeup. The simple foundation of Ayurveda teachings comes down to our 5 elements and how they are balanced or more importantly imbalanced.
Stress, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed. Tired, emotional, having a hard time getting motivated. All things we can relate to on some level. Each of us are exposed to any number of outside factors that may influence our lives and well being. In Ayurveda, we look at how we can bring the individual back to balance in day-to-day regimen.
